’72 Dolphins Unbeaten, Unbowed, but Sweating
Appeared on:
December 10, 2007
“I reached Marlin Briscoe yesterday morning just as he was preparing to tee off on a golf course in Cypress, Calif. Golf is part of a Sunday ritual that ends with Briscoe settling down to watch football. This season the ritual includes watching a New England Patriots team that poses the greatest threat yet to a legacy Briscoe holds near and dear. Briscoe was a wide receiver on the Miami Dolphins team that in 1972 went undefeated, the only N.F.L. team to do so. Teams have come and gone in 35 years and none have succeeded in joining Briscoe’s Dolphins.”
