“Earlier in the day in a Detroit suburb, Moon and three other quarterbacks, Doug Williams, James Harris and Marlin Briscoe, held an indoor football clinic for their organization, the Field Generals. Briscoe was the first African-American quarterback to start an N.F.L. game. Harris was the first to open the regular season as a starter. Williams was the first to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory.”
