(Hollywood, CA – January 18, 2012) – Barry Josephson (“Enchanted”, “Life as We Know It”) and Doug Falconer (“Trail of a Serial Killer”, “Warrior’s Way”) have agreed to co-produce “The Magician” for West Omaha Films. “The Magician” will be produced under the Josephson Entertainment shingle in association with West Omaha Films. The film is based on the true story of the life and times of pro football quarterback Marlin Briscoe. “The Magician” has been penned by Gregory Allen Howard (“Remember the Titans” and “Ali”). Tentatively titled “The Magician”, the film will follow pro football’s first black starting quarterback from his rise to the top, meteoric fall, and journey to self-fulfillment.

Briscoe’s football career led him from being a 14th round draft pick for the Denver Broncos in 1968 to becoming an All-Pro receiver for the Buffalo Bills and an integral member of the 1972 Miami Dolphins. In his rookie year with the Broncos, Briscoe broke the color barrier in professional football, becoming the first African American starting quarterback, and finishing his first season with 14 touchdown passes, a rookie record that still remains.
